Our history in Russia
Roland Berger launched its first projects in the Soviet Union in 1988, at a time when international companies had just begun to take a closer look at the Russian market.
Until the mid-1990s, our assignments focused on market surveys and partner screening projects for Western companies. Nevertheless, we were already beginning to develop our Russia expertise. We are proud of the projects we carried out in the early nineties. Our engagements included a strategy project for the Russian steel industry, as well as several strategy and restructuring projects for some of today's undisputed business leaders in the region.
Having created a solid foundation for further development in Russia and the CIS, we established our full-service Moscow office in 1994. Since then, we have continuously maintained our presence in the Russian market, even during the harsh economic winds of the 1998 crisis. We believe it takes a genuine long-term commitment to establish profound regional expertise.
Looking back at the years of our work here, we can truly say that Roland Berger has been a success story in Russia and the CIS. Our company has a vast wealth of experience working in the CIS market, having completed hundreds of projects working with clients from a variety of industries, including oil and gas, electricity, infocom, financial services, metallurgy, automotive, FMCG and retail, pharmaceuticals industry as well as working with government bodies.
Our people make us even more optimistic about our future: Our team consists of highly qualified professionals with a broad background of national and international experience.
Their analytical competence and creativity are highly appreciated by our clients, and our consultants receive ongoing training to keep up with the latest industry knowledge and management methods.
